Our Goal

Though not named Standing Stone Builders until early 2006, our company’s roots began to develop 35 years ago. At that time Dave Ulrichs, president and founder of Standing Stone Builders, was a young boy who loved working with his hands in his father’s woodshop. Now, more than three decades later, when you walk into Dave’s garage (his shop, really) you’ll see just about every tool needed to construct a home. He has become a master craftsman and referred to by many as an artist. He is highly skilled at framing, cabinetry, tile work, stonework, flooring, stair-building, trim work and painting. This hands-on ability and firsthand knowledge is critical to achieving the greatest quality in the homes we build, and a major factor that sets us apart. Visit any of our homes ... you will see and feel the utmost in quality craftsmanship.

Whether you come to us with a sketch on a napkin or a set of architect-produced construction drawings, a desire for a quaint bungalow or a distinctive mountain estate, Standing Stone Builders can help you create the home of your dreams. We truly enjoy our work, and it shows in every home we’ve built.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and is a member of the Western North Carolina Green Building Council.

A NOTE FROM ONE OF OUR CLIENTS:
“Your outstanding carpentry and construction skills, attention to detail, and trustworthiness, made the construction of our new home a wonderful experience. From the early planning stages of the home, to the presenting of the front door key, you were always there to walk us through the building process. Always communicating, always providing thoughtful recommendations, always listening to our thoughts and ideas, and always following through on scheduling and completion.”
